McCartin Golf Design, Owner. 2005-present
Washington Golf and Country Club (Arlington, VA): Collaborated with Renaissance Golf Design to produce a master plan and complete a major golf course renovation project in 2018. Currently consulting with the golf course.
Schoolhouse Nine Golf Course (Sperryville, VA): Completed the design and construction of the nine hole, par three Schoolhouse Nine golf course that opened July 2015. Acted as general contractor for the project – in addition to designing the course, was fully responsible for all aspects of planning, environmental permitting, equipment rental, acquiring construction materials, irrigation coordination, utilities installation, golf course shaping, finish grading, drainage installation, seeding, and overseeing grow-in.
National Links Trust (NLT), Co-Founder. 20019-present
Created National Links Trust with co-founder Will Smith. NLT is a 501(C)(3) non-profit dedicated to protecting and promoting accessible, affordable and engaging municipal golf courses to positively impact local communities access across the United States of America.
NLT has a 50 year lease to operate and renovate the facilities at the three municipal golf courses in Washington, DC: East Potomac, Langston and Rock Creek.
Renaissance Golf Design, Associate and Independent Contractor. 2006-present, Intern 2005 (under the direction of architect Tom Doak)
Acquired extensive experience with all aspects of golf course design and construction including routing, engineering, drainage, rough shaping and grading, and finish shaping and grading.
Developed proficiency with D5-6 Bulldozers, all types of Excavators, Skid-Steers and other smaller equipment including Sand Pros and Tractors.

RELEVANT EXPERIENCE
Golf Course Architecture Studio Instructor, CED – 2006-2008, University of Georgia
Taught two semesters of a 12 hour per week golf architecture studio class for fifth-year undergraduate students in the landscape architecture program (20 students per semester).
Solely responsible for the development of the course’s syllabus, projects, lectures and grading.
Student projects included: individual hole design, course routing, grading and drainage, 18 hole executive course design, and site master-planning including 18 hole regulation course design.
Teaching Assistant, CED – 2005-2006, University of Georgia
Taught and assisted with teaching classes in Landscape Engineering and Construction.
Masters Thesis – 2008, University of Georgia
“Making a Model Municipal Facility: A Case Study of East Potomac Park Golf Course” – The thesis focused on developing a redesign of the East Potomac Park golf courses in Washington, DC that could serve as a model for architecturally interesting but still affordable public golf.
